HONOLULU (KHON2) — The Royal Hawaiian Band celebrated a significant milestone Friday, October 25, with the grand opening of its first permanent home in its 188-year history.
Mayor Rick Blangiardi and Bandmaster Clarke Bright hosted a blessing ceremony at 9 a.m.
This historic event featured a traditional Hawaiian blessing, followed by a special performance by the band, which is the only full-time municipal band in the United States.
Councilmember Calvin Say and members of the Mayor’s Cabinet also attended the celebration, making it a noteworthy occasion for the community.
The event took place at Waikiki Vista, located at 2241 Kapiolani Boulevard on the 9th floor.
