Heavy rain threat ends, light windward showers remain

HONOULLU (KHON2) — The heavy rain threat has ended for the islands, but windward showers will still remain active through Friday. Trade winds will peak Thursday approaching 30 miles-per-hour with lighter winds this weekend.

Tonight and Tomorrow:

A weak low-pressure system is moving west, bringing unsettled weather with showers and possible rain.

Flash flood risk has decreased, so the Flood Watch has been canceled.

Tuesday will be drier and more stable, with less rain.

Later This Week:

Remnants of Hurricane Kristy will bring more showers and possibly heavy rain to the Big Island on Wednesday.

These showers will spread to other islands by Friday.

Flash flooding is not expected at this time.

The Weekend:

The weather will be drier with weaker trade winds.

Sea breezes are expected to develop on the western slopes of the islands.
