Structure fire in Kapaa needed about 750 gallons of water to be extinguished

HONOLULU (KHON2) — Shortly before 5 p.m. Tuesday a gazebo-like structure caught fire in Kapaa.

Upon arrival, firefighters found the structure fully engulfed in flames.

The fire was controlled and extinguished using approximately 750 gallons of water.

It was determined that flames from the gazebo melted part of the roof of the main residential structure, but no injuries were reported.

After firefighters extinguished the fire, KFD Fire Prevention investigators took over the scene and conducted an investigation.

Officials determined the estimated damage to the structure and it’s contents were estimated at $15,000.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
