WAIKIKI, Hawaii (KHON2) — After a 40-day strike, the union representing hundreds of hotel workers at the Hilton Hawaiian Village reached a tentative contract deal.
The news came in around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2 after more than 1,800 workers went on strike in late September.
Housekeepers, front desk agents, restaurant workers, maintenance workers and more are represented by UNITE HERE Local 5.
Workers requested proper staffing and wage increases to help keep up with the cost of living in Hawaii.
Following the tentative agreement, workers will hold a ratification vote on Monday, Nov. 4 before returning to work on Tuesday, Nov. 5.

After the contract is ratified, the strike will come to an end.

Contract details have not been released at this time. UNITE HERE Local 5 said more than 3,200 members at seven other hotels are still working without a contract.
