HONOLULU (KHON2) — Ahead of traffic delays expected this month, officials have announced scheduled modifications on our roads this May.
UH Manoa spring 2024 commencement to bring heavy traffic
The University of Hawaii at Manoa will be holding its spring commencement on Saturday at the Stan Sheriff Center.
With more than 2,000 registered to participate in the ceremonies, UH said “vehicles may be backed up on H-1 Freeway near the university in both directions.” Following the ceremony heavy traffic is expected on Dole Street, University Avenue and other roads leading from the campus as well.

Maintenance work along Ward Avenue
Also happening on Saturday, members of Hawaii Bicycling League will be performing maintenance upgrades along the Ward Avenue bike lane.

HBL will be replacing damaged and missing traffic delineators along the Diamond Head side of the road. This will take place between South King and Auahi streets.
The City said the project will help kickoff National Bike to Work Week promoting the use of a bicycle to commute to work.
National Bike to Work Week is from Monday, May 13 to Sunday, May 19.
Utility work on Hopaka Street
Beginning Tuesday, May 14, Hawaiian Electric will be replacing a leaning pole on the corner of Hopaka Street near Piikoi Street. Work is slated to happen through Thursday, May 16.
HECO said the utility work may impact traffic and parking in the Ala Moana area.
There will be a traffic contraflow between the times of 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
