HONOLULU (KHON2) — A portion of Wawae Rd. is closed until further notice between Kuli Rd. and Iwilei Rd. according to the Department of Public Works.
“After frequent inspections of the affected roadway, this area of Wawae Rd. has been closed immediately and until further until it is deemed safe, “said County Engineer Troy Tanigawa. “Following recent rains and the flooding event in April, the portion beneath Wawae Rd. continues to erode, compromising the roadway’s stability.”
Road closure signs and barriers have been installed to alert motorists and prevent traffic.
