Kahuku’s Cha’lei Reid signs with Hawaii women’s volleyball

On a day filled with football early signing day headlines, the University of Hawaii women’s volleyball team secured a prized-piece to the 2025 recruiting class as Kahuku’s Cha’lei Reid made her commitment official by signing with the home team.

Reid, a 6-foot outside hitter recorded over 100 kills in eight league matches this season, helping guide the Red Raiders into the state championship tournament.

“I just feel proud. I’m excited to go. I’ll be attending earliest over there in January. It’s just it’s an exciting moment, I’m super happy. It’s super special,” Reid told KHON2 Sports on Wednesday morning at the Kahuku signing day event. “I mean, coming from Kahuku, we have a big community already, so just being able to stay home for them and for the whole entire state now that it means a lot.”

Reid joins Punahou’s Kahea Moriwaki and Agoura High (CA) middle blocker Makena Biondi as the first three signees of the 2025 recruiting class for the Rainbow Wahine.
