Honolulu firefighter pleads not guilty on counts of sex assault

HONOLULU (KHON2) — The Honolulu firefighter indicted on multiple counts of sexual assault has pled not guilty after a court appearance on Thursday, Dec. 5.

Travis Kotrys was indicted on eight counts of sexual assault on an underage victim between Jan. 1, 2022, to July 7, 2023.

During his court appearance, a judge granted him supervised release and he’s been ordered not to contact the victim.

In a statement provided by Honolulu Fire Department, officials said Kotrys had been reassigned to a non-public-facing-role.

“We hold ourselves to the highest standards of professionalism, integrity and conduct,” HFD added.

Kotrys remains in custody on $500,000 bail.

His trial is scheduled for Feb. 3.
