Mom and Dad both work full-time and have two children. They had been living off the grid on Hawaiian Homestead land but recently moved into Dad’s parent’s home to help care for them as Dad’s father fell and broke his hips.

Also this year, Mom lost her best friend and her grandmother to cancer. Now her dad has been diagnosed with terminal cancer, had a stroke and is paralyzed on one side.

Mom and Dad also take care of two nephews who live with them. Yet they also find time to volunteer in their community, never complaining and staying strong in their faith.

They don’t ask for anything but we know their nine-year-old daughter loves to play dress-up, fun nails, hair accessories and the like, and cheer items for cheering on her brother at his games.

Their 13-year-old son plays football, loves the outdoors and goes to the beach.

Their 13-year-old nephew likes video games, diving and would love fishing gear.

Their 15-year-old nephew would love diving gear.

Dad would appreciate a gas grill. For Mom, maybe a spa day, a trip to a hair salon or a manicure.

For Dad’s mom, movie vouchers and a dinner out for the entire family would be a treat.

In the spirit of laulima, our many hands working together, let’s bring some joy to this family who gives so much even through such grief.
