HONOLULU (KHON2) — The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) has announced that the Zipper Lane will return to its regular schedule on Thursday, Dec. 12, 2024, for the morning commute.
The lane, which typically operates from 5:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. on weekdays, will once again provide added eastbound capacity on the H-1 Freeway between the Manager’s Drive Overpass and the Ke‘ehi Interchange.
HDOT had temporarily suspended the Zipper Lane on Wednesday, Dec. 11, due to mechanical issues with the three Zipmobiles.
After addressing the issue with the secondary Zipmobile, HDOT confirmed that the Zipper Lane will now function as expected.
