Waikiki boat fire declared accident after lightbulb left on

HONOLULU (KHON2) — The Honolulu Fire Department classified a boat fire as accidental, with the cause originating from an incandescent light bulb that was accidentally left on.

The 33-foot sailboat was docked at the Ala Wai Yacht Harbor when HFD arrived at the scene. The flames were extinguished in under an hour. 

The heat from the lightbulb ignited nearby furniture and clothing, resulting in about $10,000 in damage to the vessel and $2,000 in damage to its contents.
