HONOLULU (KHON2) — All North Shore beaches on Kauai are closed due to high surf and hazardous ocean conditions.
Authorities are urging people to avoid the waters from Larsen’s Beach in Moloa’a to Ke’e Beach, including the Na Pali Coast.
The warning follows a rescue operation on Thursday, where first responders saved two residents who got into trouble while kayaking at Anini Beach amid high surf.
One of the kayakers reportedly flipped several times in the rough waters.
Officials say both individuals are fortunate to have survived the ordeal.
Residents and visitors are advised to heed safety warnings and stay out of the ocean until conditions improve.
