For the eighth consecutive season, the University of Hawaii men’s volleyball team is ranked in the top five to start the season, earning the No. 4 spot in the AVCA preseason rankings for the 2025 season.
The Rainbow Warriors sit one place ahead of Ball State and trail UC Irvine, Long Beach State, and preseason No. 1 UCLA.
All six Big West Conference teams are featured in the top 18 of the rankings. Joining Hawaii, UC Irvine, and Long Beach State are No. 15 CSUN, No. 16 UC Santa Barbara, and No. 18 UC San Diego, showcasing the strength of the conference heading into the new season.
Hawaii returns eight players from last season, including starters Tread Rosenthal (setter), Kurt Nusterer (middle blocker), and Eleu Choy (libero/defensive specialist). Among the 11 newcomers are several players expected to make an immediate impact, including Adrien Roure (outside hitter), Kristian Titrisky (opposite), Ofek Hazan (middle blocker), and Finn Kearney (outside/opposite hitter).
UH head coach Charlie Wade enters his 16th season at the helm. The two-time national champion has guided UH to six NCAA Tournament trips in the past 10 years and claimed Big West Tournament titles in 2019, ’22 and ’23.
The Rainbow Warriors will open their 2025 campaign with a pair of matches against McKendree on Friday and Sunday at SimpliFi Arena at Stan Sheriff Center.
