Hawaii baseball’s winning streak snapped at Long Beach State

The University of Hawaii baseball team had its winning streak snapped at Long Beach State, 4-3, on Friday.

The Rainbow Warriors, who entered with the country’s longest winning streak, dropped to 32-16 overall and 15-10 in Big West Conference play, their winning streak stopped at 11. It was the program’s longest winning of the Rich Hill era, the most games it won consecutively since 2021 and its first time winning at least 10 straight games against NCAA Division I competition since 1995.

The Beach improved to 24-25-1 overall and 9-16 in Big West play behind the play of shortstop Armando Briseno, who had two hits, including a home run.

Connor Harrison and Alex Giroux each pitched four innings for the ‘Bows. Harrison got the start, allowing five hits and three runs, while Giroux took the loss after giving up the solo go-ahead home run to Briseno in the bottom of the eighth.

Offensively, Kyson Donahue went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI and two runs.

Nathen Morris got the win on the mound for LBSU with 1.1 innings of relief, while Mike Villani notched a save with a scoreless ninth.

The Beach and ‘Bows resume their series on Saturday at 3 p.m. HST.
