HONOLULU (KHON2) — Honolulu Fire Department rescued a 37-year-old male hiker as he was unable to ascend the trail due to a medical emergency he was experiencing.
HFD received a call just after 1 p.m. and arrived on the scene about 15 minutes later, where they were then able to descend the trail and meet the hiker. He was transported via Air 2 to a nearby landing zone at Koko District Park.
The man was then transferred to Emergency Medical Services just after 2 p.m. for medical attention.
HFD wants to remind the public about properly assessing your level of fitness in comparison to the difficulty level of the trails. Stay hydrated to avoid heat exhaustion, disorientation and muscle cramps.
