HONOLULU (KHON2) — The University of Hawaii at Manoa highlighted its latest research breakthroughs Tuesday during the third annual UH Manoa Research Day at the state Capitol.
More than 100 students, faculty and staff from various disciplines presented their projects to lawmakers, focusing on a range of topics from environmental conservation to artificial intelligence.
Dr. Subhashni Raj, an assistant professor at UH Manoa, discussed her work on how disasters affect food security in island communities.

She shared findings from Fiji during the COVID-19 pandemic, noting that when the island shut down and supply chains were disrupted, many people returned to farming to sustain themselves.
This year’s theme for the event was “UH Manoa Research and Creative Works for the Wellbeing of Current and Future Generations.”
