HONOLULU (KHON2) — After rainy conditions over the weekend, Kalakaua Avenue was bustling with people enjoying sunnier weather on Sunday, May 19.
Saturday’s bursts of heavy rain had people wading through flooded streets in Waikiki.
“We had to take our shoes off and we were just walking through. We also invested in some really good ponchos and walked in those all day,” said Valentina, a visitor from Michigan.
Others sought shelter wherever they could. Businesses like Kai Coffee Hawaii said it was busier than usual.
“Everyone was able to come into our coffee shop [because] it’s kind of hidden away and it was great for us,” stated Jack Voss, an employee at Kai Coffee Hawaii.
