HONOLULU (KHON2) — The jury involved in the case of accused murderer Eric Thompson has reached a verdict in his trial.
After weeks of testimony and hours of evidence, the jury found Thompson guilty of the murder of Waipahu acupuncturist Jon Tokuhara in January 2022.
Jurors deliberated the verdict for multiple days to decide whether Thompson murdered Tokuhara as a calculated act of revenge, or if the prosecution failed to prove his guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
Prosecutors said Thompson was driven with anger after discovering his wife’s affair with Tokuhara and disguised himself to carry out the deliberate execution.
The defense said the entire case rests on circumstantial evidence, telling jurors that suspicion does not equal proof.
