Police search for suspect who shot at police officer in Hilo

HILO, Hawaii (KHON2) — Hawaii Island police are warning the community to be on the lookout for the suspect who shot at a police officer at Prince Kuhio Plaza.

Police identified the suspect as 39-year-old Christopher Lucrisia, a man who stands at 5’10” and weighs 250 pounds.

He is described as having green eyes and black hair.

HPD said Lucrisia allegedly shot at a police officer two times before fleeing the scene as a passenger in a white Chevy pickup truck with the license plate ZLD014.

Officials added that the driver of the pickup truck is also male. They were seen heading in the direction of the airport.

In a noon update, Lucrisia was last seen on foot in the vicinity of Manono and Leilani Streets. Police advise the public to avoid the area.

Police warn the public that if they do see Lucrisia, do not approach him as he is considered armed and dangerous. Instead, call 911 immediately.

HPD said more details will be released as they become available.
