HONOLULU (KHON2) — Starting Thursday, May 23, drivers in Oahu can snag a cool new license plate decal at any satellite city hall, showing their support for efforts to tackle aggressive driving.
They’re rolling out new decals featuring the shaka gesture — a friendly hand signal with the pinky and thumb extended, while the other fingers curl down and wave.
You can grab one of these shaka decals for $30.50 each at satellite city halls across the City and County of Honolulu.
Just bring along your completed application for replacing a license plate decal and your current vehicle registration.
Need the application? You can pick one up at the city hall or hop online at https://www8.honolulu.gov/csd/special-plates/.
And here’s the best part: no appointment necessary!
Swing by whenever to grab your shaka decal and support the Hawaii-based nonprofit ID8.
An added bonus is $20 from each purchase goes straight to ID8 to help tackle road rage on Oahu.
“We are pleased to continue offering motorists an opportunity to showcase their support for worthy causes across Oahu,” said Kim Hashiro, director of the city’s Department of Customer Services.
