High School softball has officially started the 2025 season here in Hawai’i.
The Kapa’a Warriors come into the new season as the Defending HHSAA Division 2 State Champions. The Warriors are off to a 2-0 start in the new season and continue to keep their recent seasons success going.
“We don’t get any kudos necessarily for last year. It’s for us to build and for them to make their own kind of pass through through this whole season. I think we have the good foundation for another successful season, hopefully,” said Kapa’a Head Coach, Blair Yamashita
This years team does have a lot of experience but also with some new faces in the starting lineup and rotations. But that isn’t adding any extra pressure as they have continued to put in the work during the offseason.
“Our work ethic is still the same. Our drive to win, our drive to want to be there on the field and get everyone better, it’s everything’s the same,” said Kapa’a Junior, Sienna Yamashita.
One thing that has helped this team prepare for the season is the chemistry that they have built up throughout their careers.
“Seeing the majority of the girls that we grew up playing with, we’re now all on one team together at this age and this level and seeing how far we’ve progressed with each other and alongside of our coaching staff. I think coming off of a great season into this season, it’s a lot to look forward to,” said Kapa’a Senior, Lilinoe Kuhaulua-Leong.
The Warriors have won 2 of the last 3 Division 2 State Championships. Their next game is on March 19th.
