WATCH: Man jumps in Ala Wai Canal to avoid arrest

HONOLULU (KHON2) — A man is in custody after jumping in the Ala Wai Canal in Waikiki to avoid arrest on Saturday, March 22.

Honolulu police responded to the Ala Wai Blvd and Seaside Ave incident around 9:30 p.m.

The 30-year-old male suspect was wanted for unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle.

He then jumped into the Ala Wai to avoid officers but was later arrested.
