HONOLULU (KHON2) — KHON2 would like to send a special birthday to Tiger Tom Metcalf, who turned 100 years old on Thursday, April 3.
Metcalf was surrounded by family and friends at a birthday bash to celebrate the milestone.
Originally from New York, Metcalf was a member of the Army Air Corps Cadet Program in the 1940s, before it became the Air Force.
He would then move to Vermont to attend college, but would also meet a special someone along the way.
While he was in school, Tiger met his wife of 73 years. They would then move to Hawaii so Tiger could teach at Punahou School.
His two-year contract turned into a 40-year career as a beloved dean at Punahou.
Metcalf has four children, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He said the secret to a long life is staying in touch with youth.
