HONOLULU (KHON2) — A popular macadamia nut company has launched a statewide search for the new face of their chocolate-covered mac nuts.
Hawaiian Host announced they are looking for two people, one wahine and one kāne, who can embody the spirit of aloha to represent AlohaMacs.
The two individuals will replace the current face, Kawhi Kamakele, who has been a warm and welcoming face for the product for many years.
Those selected would not only have their photo on the popular souvenier and sweet treat, but would also showcase state pride and carry a legacy built on culture, community and connection.
At Hawaiian Host, we’re grateful to be part of a place where aloha is more than a word—it’s something people live and share every day.
Theresa Tuxhorn, VP of Global Marketing
Tuxhorn added that the two individuals selected will also get the chance to celebrate their roots, all while representing the next chapter of Hawaiian Host’s story.
The two people who choose to take on the role should step into it with humility, warmth and aloha, just a few of the many qualities needed to serve as cultural ambassadors of Hawaii.
Kamakele described his role as the face for AlohaMacs as an honor, expressing his love of representing the islands.
“I’ve loved representing our island home, our culture and making my family proud. I’m excited for this next adventure and to welcome others into this legacy.” Kamakele said.
If selected, the two ambassadors will receive a grand prize of $10,000 cash, an island staycation, a year’s supply of Hawaiian Host products and more.
