1. Best Overall and Most Affordable: Spirit Airlines
If you’re on a budget, Spirit Airlines is the most affordable airline for your trip that breaks down to a cost of only ¢4.56 per mile on average.
Spirit Airlines also earned the title of the best airline overall and the safest airline in 2025. But while Spirit wins in price and safety, it doesn’t offer much in terms of comfort. So, you may want to pack snacks and entertainment.
2. Most Reliable: Delta Air Lines
Delta is known for getting travelers where they need to go with the fewest problems. It had the lowest rates of cancellations, delays and lost luggage in 2024. If staying on schedule is your top concern, then Delta is a strong choice.
3. Most Comfortable: Hawaiian Airlines and JetBlue
For long flights to or from Hawaiʻi, comfort matters. Hawaiian Airlines and JetBlue both earned top scores for extra legroom, free snacks and in-flight Wi-Fi. Hawaiian Airlines also ranked high in safety and reliability, making it a great all-around pick for your island adventure.
4. Best for Pets: SkyWest, United and Envoy Air
If you’re bringing a furry friend, look for airlines with clean safety records. SkyWest Airlines, United and Envoy Air had no pet-related incidents in 2024.
