Coast Guard searching for missing Big Island kayaker

HAWAII, Hawaii (KHON2) — The Coast Guard is looking for a man who went missing off the Keauhou Bay on the Big Island on April 27.

Jared Willeford, 42, was last seen at about 8 a.m. the morning he went missing launching a yellow kayak into the water.

Officials say a yellow kayak was found about two hours later 400 yards off the shore. However, there has been no sign of Willeford.

Anyone with information that may aid in the search efforts is urged to contact the Coast Guard on VHF-FM channel 16 or by calling the Sector Honolulu command center at (808) 842-2600.
