HONOLULU (KHON2) — The Queen’s Health System blessed the Emergency Department at The Queen’s Medical Center-Wahiawa on Friday, May 24, celebrating better air conditioning and technology.
Queen’s acquired the aging facility in April after the emergency room was forced to shut down for repairs. Now, officials said they are ready to continue providing care to central Oahu.
Reports said various “government leaders, representatives from city and state agencies, and Wahiawa Hospital Association attended the blessing.”
According to Queen’s, services at the hospital “include emergency services, imaging, and laboratory services.”
New improvements to the electronic medical record platform will also help “assist with car coordination, resulting in a seamless delivery of care for patients.” The hospital’s facility flooring was upgraded as well.
“So we moved the emergency room to an advanced upgraded electronic medical record and that will provide great continuity of care,” explained Robin Kalohelanni, Regional VP for Operations, Central and West Oahu. “So because this is a stand-alone emergency room, if patients need to be admitted, you’ll have seamless coordination via the electronic medical record.”
The hospital will be equipped with over 700 physicians and specialists who will help provide high-quality and specialized care.
Patients can access these physicians, specialists and services through the Queen’s University Medical Group.
“I anticipate it will not only make sure that the community here is well served, but it’ll also help us grow as a community within Queen’s,” said Dr Jill Hoggard Green, president and CEO of The Queen’s Health System.
Officials said the Emergency Department is slated to open sometime this week.
