Take TheBus? You should know about these upcoming changes

HONOLULU (KHON2) — New service changes are coming to TheBus, according to the Honolulu Department of Transportation Services.

Starting June 2, the following changes will be made:

Route 1L: Halawa — Hawaii Kai

Route 1L will be rerouted to serve Bougainville Dr and Radford Dr. The following bus stops will be discontinued:

Bus Stop #2964 (Salt Lake Blvd + Bougainville Dr)

Bus Stop #4705 (Salt Lake Blvd + Maluna St)

Bus Stop #4704 (Salt Lake Blvd + Namur Rd)

Route 11: Makalapa — Halawa — Aiea Heights — Honolulu

Route 11 will be discontinued. According to City and County officials, riders will need to use the following alternate bus routes:

Route 551 (Aiea Heights — Aloha Stadium): Operates 1-way mauka-bound service on Kaʻamilo St & 1-way makai-bound service on Aiea Heights Dr between Kaʻamilo St and Moanalua Rd.

Route 552 (Halawa Heights — Aloha Stadium): Operates 1-way mauka-bound service on Aliʻipoe Dr & 1-way makai-bound service on Hālawa Heights Rd between Aliʻipoe Dr and Ulune St.

Service to/from Honolulu: Transfer at Aloha Stadium to Routes A (City Express Pearlridge-UH Manoa), 1L (Hālawa-Hawaiʻi Kai Limited Stop), 20 (Waikīkī-Airport-Aloha Stadium)

Route 432 (Waipahu — Waiawa) vs “New” Route 43 (East — West Waipahu)

Route 432 will be discontinued and replaced with a “new” route 43. Officials said Route 43 will operate between Waiawa Rd and Alapai Transit Ctr. The route will run on extended hours from 4:30 a.m. to 2 a.m. the next day and 5 a.m. to 1:30 a.m. on Sundays.

Route 46 (Kapolei Commons — UH West Oahu)

Multiple morning trips will be discontinued due to low riders.

From Kapolei Commons to UH West Oahu, the 4 a.m., 4:10 a.m., 4:20 a.m., and 4:30 a.m. trips will discontinued. From UH West Oahu to Kapolei Commons, the 4:40 a.m. to 4:50 a.m. trips will no longer be in service.

Route 303 (Hickam — Airport — Kalihi Transit Center)

The closure of Kuntz Gate has prompted the discontinuation of Elliott St and Kuntz Ave. The City and County said Route 303 bus stops are located on Nimitz Hwy and O’Malley Blvd.
