ALERT: Fire, heavy smoke near H-1 prompts lane closures

PEARL CITY, Hawaii (KHON2) — Heavy smoke off the H-1 Freeway prompted lane closures and a response from the Honolulu Fire Department on Wednesday afternoon.

Traffic cameras in the area showed that the shoulder lane and one other lane were blocked off by fire trucks near exit 10. HFD officials were first alerted to a “wildland fire incident” around 3:45 p.m. on June 4.

At least six units responded to the scene, including several engines, a tanker and other units.
