HONOLULU (KHON2) — One of Hawaiʻi’s most iconic local restaurants is making its way to west Oʻahu.
Popular restaurant Side Street Inn is opening its first location outside urban Honolulu at Wai Kai at Hoakalei.
Called Hali‘a, meaning “fond remembrance” in Hawaiian, this new concept will take over the waterfront space previously occupied by Kitchen Door.
“We’re thrilled to bring the Side Street Inn experience to the West Side community,” said co-owner Lisa Meyer. “This location at Wai Kai offers the perfect setting for gathering with family and friends to enjoy the same generous portions and island-style hospitality we’re known for, but this time with a view.”
With existing locations in Honolulu and Kapahulu, Side Street Inn has gained a following for its signature dishes like kim chee fried rice, pipikaula-style short ribs and pork chops.
The Wai Kai location will feature a lagoon setting, offering both indoor and outdoor seating.
“Side Street Inn is a natural fit for Wai Kai. Their reputation for good food, good people, and good times aligns perfectly with our mission to create a destination that brings the community together,” said Wai Kai Vice President and General Manager Jerry Pupillo.
An opening date is slated for this summer, with an official date to be announced soon.
