Aloha Hot Dog and Banh Mi offers a dynamic duo

HONOLULU (KHON2) — Owners, Cam Ly and Hong Ly, shared about their sister-owned and Vietnamese inspired restaurant located in the Waikiki Shopping Plaza.

Cam shared, “After my sister and I opened the Hula Dog food truck in Waikiki, we wanted to open up Aloha Hot Dog and Banh Mi to showcase the local flavors along with the beautiful tastes from our hometown, Ho Chi Minh City. We feature a menu using high-quality ingredients and locally sourced produce. Our jumbo hot dogs in plush Hawaiian buns feature some unique condiments, while our banh mi sandwiches incorporate a variety of sumptuous meats and pickled vegetables in crispy golden baguettes.  We serve freshly squeezed lemonades in a variety of local and tropical flavors and traditional Vietnamese coffee beverages brewed with a “Phin” filter and sweetened with condensed milk to complement the meal.”

“We want our flavors to be authentic, so we take the time to create our own char siu and our house sauces, such as the BBQ sauce and spicy sauce.  We also offer a weekly noodle soup for those who want more than just a banh mi.  The soups feature our family recipes and can be either a pho or a bun rieu or other comforting broth with noodles.”

To enjoy a delicious breakfast, lunch, or dinner, visit their location daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the Lower Level of the Waikiki Shopping Plaza. Follow along on their journey and to see updates on Instagram (@alohahotdogandbanhmi).
