HONOLULU (KHON2) — Hawaiian Electric says customers on Oahu can expect slightly lower electric bills following a contract amendment with fuel supplier Par Hawaii.
The agreement, approved by the state Public Utilities Commission, is expected to save the average household nearly $3 per month.
HECO also estimates the deal will reduce its annual fuel costs by $31 million.
However, the utility cautioned that the savings could fluctuate depending on volatility in global oil markets.
