Salanoa sisters suit up for Samoa Women’s National Team

Hawaii sisters Xevani and Xeyana Salanoa are back on the soccer pitch together, as the two siblings are competing on the Samoa Women’s National Team.

The former Punahou standouts are on the SWNT roster in the OFC Women’s Nations Cup.

On Thursday, Samoa took to the field for their 1st match in pool play as they took on Papua New Guinea.

Xevani started the match at striker. Samoa trailed 2-0 at halftime, which prompted Xeyana to come into the match at Goal Keeper.

Xevani than in the 83rd minute scored for Samoa on a header after colliding with the Papua New Guinea Goal Keeper.

Xeyana at the net, didn’t allow a single goal during her time on the pitch.

Samoa did lose 2-1 but the Salanoa sisters showing promise for the team.

Next up, Samoa will take on the Cook Islands on Sunday at 2pm HT.
