Motorcyclist in serious condition after Nanakuli collision

HONOLULU (KHON2) — A critical vehicle collision occurred on the night of July 5 in the Nanakuli area, the Honolulu Police Department said.

The collision took place at the intersection of Farrington Highway and Pohakunui Avenue, when police say an 18-year-old driver traveling westbound on the highway made an illegal left turn, colliding with a 31-year-old motorcyclist.

The motorcyclist was ejected onto the roadway as a result of the collision, HPD said.

According to police, the driver was showing signs of impairment and was arrested for Operating a Vehicle Under the Influence of an Intoxicant.

The motorcyclist was taken to Queen’s Medical Center in critical condition, but was later listed in serious condition, HPD said. The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet during the collision.
