HONOLULU (KHON2) — The Hawaii Department of Transportation said that a zipmobile has stalled and is impacting traffic as workers set out to fix the machine’s engine.
The HDOT said the main Zipmobile broke down on the H-1 freeway near Managers Drive in Waipahu at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, July 9.
The driver said the vehicle wouldn’t start. A mechanic was sent to fix it. If it’s not working by 11 a.m., the Zipmobile will be moved.
A backup vehicle will finish closing the Zipper Lane.
11:30 a.m. update on Zipmobile
HDOT said the problem with the Zipmobile seems to be the fuel pump. A mechanic is working to fix it.
Just in case it’s not ready soon, the HDOT is sending a backup Zipmobile to make sure the Zipper Lane is closed before the busy afternoon traffic starts at 3 p.m.
