HONOLULU (KHON2) — The beloved Friends of the Library of Hawaiʻi book sale opened its doors to bookworms on July 12, with over 125,000 books to peruse, the organization said.
The sale is at Kakaʻako Makai this time, at the old Re-Use Hawaiʻi warehouse on Keawe Street.
“Usually [the sale] is in June, but now it’s in July,” said Nainoa Maui, the executive director of the Friends of the Library of Hawaiʻi. “It’s a little warm here in the warehouse. So be prepared for that, but there’s a breeze coming through and a lot of happy shoppers.”
Despite any temperature-related challenges, shoppers are still enjoying their time finding their next read.
“I love this event. I come every year,” said shopper Elizabeth Norcross. “You just look around and there’s so much to choose from. You cannot take everything but I try.”
In addition to their thousand of books, the book sale is also featuring other forms of physical media, such as DVDs, CDs and more.
The sale continues through July 20, with some days featuring special discounts for veterans, teachers, kūpuna and more. For more information, visit the Friends of the Library of Hawaiʻi’s website.
