Hawaii football unveils new Nike uniforms, inspired by legendary past

The University of Hawaii football team unveiled its new home and away uniforms for the upcoming 2025 season, marking the program’s first return to Nike since 2007.

The fresh look draws inspiration from the golden era of Hawaii football, paying homage to the teams that captured the state’s imagination, and players say it brings an extra layer of motivation.

“There’s something special about it,” quarterback Micah Alejado said. “The rich history, with Coach Timmy, Colt [Brennan], and that 2007 team that went to the Sugar Bowl, the hairs on your arm start to stand up. You watch the highlights of what they did, see how the state rallied around them and supported them, and it gets you super excited.”

Alejado, who’s entering his second season, believes the new uniforms symbolize a clean slate and a chance to build the next great chapter in UH football history.

“It’s our first year back in Nike, and just seeing the potential we have as a team, how many guys we brought back, it’s fun to think about writing that next chapter,” he said. “This offseason was different. The team really rallied together, leadership took over, and our goals started becoming reality. We put in the work. Now we’re all excited for August 23.”

That’s when Hawaii opens the season at the Clarence T.C. Ching Athletics Complex against Stanford.

Up next for the Rainbow Warriors is Mountain West Media Days, which kick off Wednesday in Las Vegas.

UH will be represented by Chang, along with linebacker Jamih Otis and wide receiver Pofele Ashlock.
