HONOLULU (KHON2) — The Honolulu Fire Department has extinguished a building fire in Wahiawa, and an investigation is underway.
On July 19, HFD received a call around 10 a.m. regarding a fire at an apartment complex on Wilikina Drive.
Upon arrival, firefighters were sent to the third floor of the apartment complex to fight the flames and proceeded to evacuate the third and fourth floors.
According to HFD, the flames were brought under control at 10:38 a.m. and were fully extinguished at 11:50 a.m.
Due to the fire, Wilikina Drive was closed in both directions. It was reopened shortly after containment.

Honolulu EMS responded to the scene and treated three patients who suffered mild smoke inhalation.
Officials said all patients declined transport to an emergency room.
HFD would like to remind Hawaii residents that they should have working smoke alarms in every building, which could save lives and allow for more time to escape.
When a fire is detected, keep doors closed, as this will help minimize the spread of a fire in a structure.
