HONOLULU (KHON2) — The Molokai to Oahu Paddleboard World Championships is officially underway, with competitors taking on 40 miles of ocean between the two islands.
The race is the only one of its kind, and some say you never know what could happen once you’re in the ocean.
According to KHON2 Weather Source’s Justin Cruz, conditions are in everyone’s favor — with light to moderate trades looking to give competitors a boost.
Defending SUP foil champion Edoardo Tanas said athletes “could run into anything along the way, but it’s all about how you bounce back and make it to the finish line.”
