Back to school made easy: Free school supplies, haircuts and more

HONOLULU (KHON2) — Back-to-school season is approaching fast, and if you and your ohana need a little extra help before the school year, this Ewa Beach event has got you covered.

Child and Family Service (CFS) is hosting a family-friendly event for students in grades six to 12 can receive a variety of back-to-school essentials. The best part — it’s free!

Families can head to 91-1841 Fort Weaver Road on Saturday, July 26, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Students can receive free school supplies, physicals and haircuts to get them ready for the upcoming school year.

And if that’s not enough, keiki can enjoy a variety of activities, including the following:

  • Build Your Own Terrarium by YOAS 

  • 3D Printing Workshop by Simply 3D Hawaii 

  • Lawai‘a Exhibit hosted by Institute For Native 
Pacific Education And Culture 

  • Fresh Flower Bar by The Happy Haku 

  • Painting Workshop by Paint for Your Soul 

  • Butterfly Dome by Paradise Monarchs 


Of course, the event would not be complete without ono grindz. Island favorites such as Food by Da Bald Guy, Dipped by Dee, Frank’s Franks, Local Poke Bowl and more will be in attendance.

This event was made possible with the help of Expanded Learning Program, an after-school program that provides a safe place for kids in grades 6 to 12 to learn, create new relationships and participate in extra-curricular activities.
