New Hawaiian, Alaska benefits program takes flight

HONOLULU (KHON2) — It’s almost time! Hawaiian and Alaska Airlines are getting ready to launch their new combined benefits program on Wednesday, Oct. 1.

Before the program launches, Hawaiian wants to give its customers a head start on how to prepare and what to expect.

According to Hawaiian Airlines officials, miles and status will transfer, never expire and remain the same.

Airline officials encourage customers to link their accounts early if they currently hold an Alaska Mileage Plan account.

To do so, visit Alaska Airlines’ website, sign in to your HawaiianMiles and Mileage Plan accounts, follow the provided instructions and transfer your miles.

If you only hold a HawaiianMiles account, then the benefits will transfer automatically.

The new Huakai by Hawaiian benefits program is free to join, offering exclusive deals to Hawaii residents only.

A variety of perks will be offered, such as free checked bags on neighbor island flights, monthly travel deals and quarterly fare discounts. You can sign up here.
