Judge denies former Kahuku coach TRO

HONOLULU (KHON2) — A judge denied former Kahuku Head Coach Sterling Carvalho’s request for a temporary restraining order on Aug. 1.

The request for the TRO was filed as an effort to get the former coach back on the sidelines immediately.

He was fired after the state Department of Education conducted an investigation that found he allegedly created a hostile environment toward a former player.

According to Carvalho’s attorney Eric Seitz, the case is unfortunate as it is unlikely that another school would offer him a position or allow him to coach.

“He’s a really important mentor to kids and I haven’t found anybody anywhere who doesn’t really say wonderful things about [Carvalho] and the way he treats other people and so for the DOE to treat him this way is really a disgrace,” Seitz said.
