H-1 airport improvements project extended to December due to ’99 unworkable days’: HDOT

HONOLULU (KHON2) — The Hawaii Department of Transportation suffered delays to their H-1 Airport Viaduct Improvements project.

Crews discovered rubber joint seals separating from the roadway as they worked last week, HDOT reported.

Additional materials to continue the work were ordered and expected to arrive by September.

The project was previously anticipated to wrap up in August. Due to weather and material setbacks, 99 unworkable days mean work will now extend into December, HDOT said.
