HONOLULU (KHON2) — A 41-year-old man was arrested for murder in a store parking lot on Beretania Street on the night of Aug. 9.
The Honolulu Police Department responded to the scene at approximately 10:30 p.m. Upon investigation, police say that the suspect and a 54-year-old male victim were in an argument in the parking lot.
It was reported by witnesses that the suspect had allegedly pushed the victim in the chest, causing the victim to fall backward and hit his head on the curb, police said.
Authorities say the victim was unresponsive, and was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition, where he was later pronounced dead.
At 10:45 p.m., HPD says the suspect was arrested for Murder in the Second Degree.
The investigation is ongoing into the incident. Charges will be sought with the Department of the Prosecuting Attorney.
