Honolulu gets big league experience at Little League World Series

The Honolulu All-Stars will play South Carolina in an elimination game at the Little League World Series on Tuesday. First pitch is scheduled for 9 a.m. HST on ESPN.

Honolulu, the West Regional champion, stayed alive Sunday with a win over Illinois.

Beyond the victory, the team also took part in the Little League Classic festivities, meeting major league players and attending the Mets-Mariners game at Bowman Field.

“It was pretty cool,” said outfielder and pitcher Evan Crawford. “Six of them came through the dugout and gave us high fives. Before the game we got to talk with them a little bit.”

Third baseman and pitcher Bronson Fermahin said the moment was special. “Just to shake their hand is really awesome. Some kids back home don’t really get to see these players,” he said.

Outfielder Kobe Lumford called it a dream opportunity. “Meeting them was super exciting for me,” he said. “Some of them were on my list of who I wanted to meet, especially the pitchers. Not many kids get that chance.”
