HONOLULU (KHON2) — A fatal motor vehicle collision on North King St. near Pua Lane in Kalihi occurred during the early morning hours of Aug. 19.
According to the Honolulu Police Department, this is traffic fatality 52 on Oahu this year, which is double the amount of the same time last year.
The fatal accident involved a 51-year-old female driver who was heading westbound on North King Street.
HPD said the woman traveled off the roadway and crashed with a wooden utility pole. They added that she was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
Paramedics with Honolulu Emergency Medical Services brought her to the hospital in critical condition, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
