HONOLULU (KHON2) — Students at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa have a wide range of food options that are meant to be tasty, affordable and reflective of Hawaiʻi’s culture.
Marc Arakaki, spokesperson for UH Mānoa, said the goal is to make eating on campus fit into busy college schedules while staying connected to the community.
“We want to make sure that your student has food that’s not only delicious and affordable, but also reflects Hawaiʻi’s culture and flavors,” Arakaki said. “So many of our locations are making a real strong effort to be sustainable as possible and include locally sourced ingredients in their dishes.”
Paradise Palms
Arakaki said there are two main retail dining spots on campus.
“At Mānoa, there are two main retail dining locations on campus; so, we have Paradise Palms Cafe as well as Campus Center,” he said.
He went on to explain further.
“Paradise Palms Cafe is located on the north side of Upper Campus and offers places like Panda Express; Dunkin Donuts; L&L Barbeque; Lasoon, which is Nepali and Indian food; and Holoholo Grill, which is local style fair,” Arakaki said.
Construction is happening nearby, but Arakaki noted that Paradise Palms is still open and welcoming students.
Campus Center
The Campus Center is another hub for food where students can get ono grindz.
“Campus Center will have the food court, very popular food court, which offers a variety of plate lunches, bentos, salads, bowls, burgers, wraps and much more,” Arakaki said. “Starbucks and Jamba Juice is really popular with the students, too.”
Other options add variety throughout the building.
“Other locations in Campus Center are Subway; Dinkg Tea, which offers tea and boba selections, as well as Quick Bites, which are snacks and convenience items,” Arakaki said.
Also, Taco Bell will be coming soon for campus dining!
Beyond the basics
For students on meal plans, the Campus Center Food Court accepts Dining Dollars and Bonus Dollars.
Choices include the Warrior Cheeseburger, bento boxes and salads.
Starbucks serves drinks until 10 p.m. on weekdays, while Jamba Juice offers smoothies from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Students can also find Ding Tea, B’rito Bowl and Ba-Le at nearby locations.
