KAPOLEI, Hawaii (KHON2) — Hawaiʻi has a new Chick-fil-A restaurant that will open its doors in Kapolei on Thursday, Aug. 28.
The owners of the restaurant said they will bring about 120 jobs to the community and introduce the first indoor Chick-fil-A playground in Hawaiʻi.
Here’s what we know.
1. Locally owned and operated
The restaurant will be led by Honolulu native Nick Lovan, who grew up in ʻEwa Beach.
“Opening Chick-fil-A Kamokila in the community where I grew and have the opportunity to make a difference is a dream come true,” Lovan said.
He graduated from Moanalua High School before serving 20 years in the United States Marine Corps. His ties to West Oʻahu run deep. He even proposed to his wife at Oneʻula Beach Park.
The restaurant will serve guests Monday through Saturday from 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., with drive-thru service available until 10 p.m. Options include dine-in, carry-out, delivery and catering.
2. First indoor playground
Families will discover the first Chick-fil-A indoor playground in Hawaiʻi at the Kamokila restaurant. The play space gives keiki a place to climb, slide and explore while parents enjoy their meals nearby.
It is designed for safe, weather-proof fun and offers a cool retreat from the Kapolei sun or sudden showers.
The playground makes the restaurant more than a place to eat. It creates a gathering spot where ʻohana can spend time together, whether it is a quick breakfast, an after-school visit or a weekend outing.
3. Cows eat free
For the grand opening, Chick-fil-A has something extra special planned.
Guests are invited to dress in cow print on opening day to receive one free entrée. Qualifying items range from a Chick-fil-A Chicken Biscuit in the morning to an eight-count Nugget meal at lunch or dinner. See below for the options:

The offer is limited to one entrée per person while supplies last.
4. Giving back to the community
Chick-fil-A Kamokila said they will be donating surplus food to Aloha Harvest through the Shared Table program.
In addition, Chick-fil-A, Inc. will donate $25,000 to Hawaiʻi Foodbank in honor of the opening, with funds going to West Oʻahu partners.
5. Hours and service
The restaurant will open Monday through Saturday from 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. The drive-thru will stay open until 10 p.m. Guests can choose dine-in, carry-out, delivery or catering.
The new location joins four other Chick-fil-A restaurants in Hawaiʻi, and the grand opening for the playground will be at 6:30 a.m. at 890 Kamokila Boulevard.
