PO‘IPŪ, Hawaiʻi (KHON2) — A North Carolina visitor passed after being pulled from the waters at Keoneloa Bay.
On Thurs., Aug. 21, at around 6:30 p.m., first responders were called to Keoneloa Bay, where there was a report of a swimmer in distress.
The swimmer was 39-year-old Jerome Hill. Reports say that he jumped from the cliff and faced trouble in the water. Others who witnessed the incident immediately rescued him and brought him back to shore.
The Kauai Police said CPR was administered until the Kauai Fire Department and American Medical Response arrived and took over. He was taken to Wilcox Medical Center in critical condition, and he was later pronounced dead.
Foul play did not play a factor in this incident, but an autopsy is still pending to determine the exact cause of death.
