HONOLULU (KHON2) — Honolulu police made an arrest in connection to an arson investigation in Kunia.
On Aug. 23, at around 11 a.m., a fire call was made from the Kunia Road and Leialii Street area, where patrol officers and firefighters responded.
According to Honolulu police, they worked with fire investigators and then opened a first-degree arson case.
Members of HPD’s Homicide and Strategic Enforcement Detail identified the suspect as a 70-year-old male who was reported leaving the scene in a pickup truck.
Just after 2 p.m., officers were able to locate the suspect’s vehicle on Kahalewai Street, near the area of a second reported fire. That investigation remains active.
The Department of Prosecuting Attorney will seek charges as detectives continue the investigation.
